My Own Experience
I have always wanted to try affiliate marketing, ever since I learned about it in an e-commerce class in college in 2003. But even with a college degree I didn’t know how to get started on it. Granted, the internet was in its baby stages back then, so classes weren’t available to take at the university to learn affiliate marketing.
With the downturn of the economy in 2008, and having never really recovered from that era, I decided to look for a side gig to make grocery money. I wanted something I could do at home on nights and weekends, where I didn’t have to go anywhere or get dressed up! I researched and tried a bunch of different options, with not any real help, and made only pocket change, with little potential for more.
The Ah-Hah Moment
Then, I came across Wealthy Affiliate, where I could try the program before I bought it. After that first training module, I had a working website. Everything I dreamed of, about getting my writing out there and helping people, and making money at it, started coming to fruition.
I began to see the potential in what I could earn. My goal went from getting grocery money, to paying off bills, and possibly actually retiring instead of working until I’m 90. Granted, this is hard work, and it takes up a lot of time, but in the end, it will be worth it. Soon, it will be possible to see my grandkids more often and help provide things like piano lessons, sports equipment, and college tuition.
Wealthy Affiliate is truly a great program, because it is everything that they say it is. The sky is the limit for where you want to go with it.

The Thing I Like Most
I LOVE the community at Wealthy Affiliate and the networking where you can meet people. Everyone is there to learn and support each other. I have never been in a community that lives up to its claim to be a pay-it-forward society, such as Wealthy Affiliate. You can ask a question of anyone at anytime. Send a message to the CEOs, and they will answer you. A beginner can go there to commiserate with people who are going through the same issues as they are having. And you can offer a little motivation for someone who is struggling.
Issues
My only concern with Wealthy Affiliate is that there is very little live conversation. As far as I can see, you can’t get on the phone with a rep. The keys to the training are writing and reading comprehension, because all communication is done over private message, live chat, and posts. Even in the Live classes on Friday nights, the instructor speaks, but the participants Live Chat during the sessions. I am lousy at Live Chat, because I have this ‘thing” about using proper English, and I just don’t think or type fast enough! So, I struggle a bit during Live Chat.
However, my writing skills have really sharpened since I started at Wealthy Affiliate, because we do a lot of writing! The nice thing is, even the live classes are recorded, so you can go back through it and make notes and ask questions.

I like the way members of Wealthy Affiliate do their reviews. You can see the honesty revealed in every section of their posts, including this review of yours, I can see the affiliate disclosure displayed. In other sites and in other affiliate communities out there, this is not the practice, the reason why WA members beat their competitors.
You said there’s very little live conversation going on inside WA? And you can’t even call a rep by phone to talk about something related to the business? I wonder, is that necessary, like calling someone and asking, in a business like this where everything has been explained in the website?

And with so many people contributing, it is sometimes difficult to grasp concept. Some people have the reading comp down pretty well, but when it comes to writing to communicate, they just don’t have it. So when you read a post, sometimes you get and some times you don’t. It all depends on communication. And I want to say, that it’s more like 95% in the website, not 100%. So there’s always going to be questions. So, yes, it’s a good point you brought up. This is really interesting reading wonderful post about where I also belong to. I can’t just go away without commenting. WA is a university to me as they take me from starter and is was actually great with those life changing training experience. Just want to add my bit about WA. I totally agree with all that you have said. It really is the best training platform on the Internet for anyone who wants to break free of the 9-5 or whatever shift they work.
The only thing I might add is that even though one might be part of the best training platform doesn’t mean they will be a success.
Why do I say that? Because, as you say, IT TAKES WORK. The best training doesn’t do anyone any good if they are not willing to take action on what they learn.

Thank you Wayne! Ya, I hope I didn’t sugar coat it too much. It is a monumental amount of work. But so far, the work has been really rewarding. I guess another point I want to make is that for 80% of the training, you need to rely on yourself to follow up and further research things. If you try a concept like the training says, and it doesn’t work, YOU need to troubleshoot it, and be willing to try some things. Not everyone can or is willing to do that. Long before now I really don’t have much information about affiliate marketing program ever since I got introduced by a ffriendto wealthy affiliate program my interest rose. However the area I want to explore is setting up an online training sites were I can train people about hardware troubleshooting, I will be glad if you can mentor me to set it up.
